βWe consistently speak at all possible and accessible negotiating platforms, which include, in particular, the Conference on Disarmament, in favor of adopting a resolution on the prevention of an arms race in outer space. We perceive with extreme caution statements that Russia is going to place weapons in space directed against the United States, βsaid Sergey Savelyev, Deputy Director General of Roscosmos.
The official statement of the Russian state corporation says that the Russian Federation is ready to cooperate with the United States on the widest range of issues in the field of outer space exploration.
We are talking not only about the supply of RD-180/181 rocket engines and the delivery of American astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS), but also about other areas of activity.
βNaturally, in such matters we proceed from the principle of reciprocity and equality. The militarization of outer space, followed by the emergence of the leading roles of our American partners, can disrupt the already fragile structure of relations between the two countries in this area, βthe Roscosmos publication says.
