The company Information Satellite Systems named after Academician M.F. Reshetnev (ISS), according to the RIA Novosti online publication, spoke about plans to create new communication spacecraft.
It is noted that at present the Russian satellite communications constellation is fully operational. At the same time, work is already underway to create four advanced telecommunications satellites.
We are talking about new geostationary vehicles. They are manufactured by order of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Space Communications".
The creation of two of the four satellites is planned to be completed at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year. Two more satellites will be ready in 2021.
βThese are perfect, powerful devices. We are ready to create devices corresponding to the world level. In terms of saturation, performance, and energy-mass characteristics, this corresponds to a good world level of geostationary direct relay spacecraft,β said Yury Vilkov, Deputy General Designer for Development and Innovation at ISS.
There is no word on when the new spacecraft are planned to be put into orbit.
