It became known that over the past six months, the share of users of paid online video services has doubled. About it reported publication "Kommersant" with reference to the results of a survey conducted by TelecomDaily.

If in February 2020 19% of survey participants had a paid subscription, in September 39% of respondents reported having paid subscription. According to the latest survey, on average, there are three paid subscriptions per user at once, and the total cost of paying for them was approximately 285 rubles per month. About 32% of respondents spend several hours a month watching movies and series online, 46% - several hours a week, 19% - several hours a day. More than half of the respondents also noted that they are ready to watch new films and series by downloading them on torrent trackers.

Approximately 42% of respondents reported having a subscription to the Premier service from Gazprom-Media, which is explained by its low cost (29 rubles per month at the time of the survey). The least paid subscribers, according to the survey, are Tvzavr (7%), more.tv (9%) and Megogo (16%). The market leader in terms of revenue is the ivi service, the share of paying customers of which is at the level of 23%.

Online video services themselves do not disclose data on the share of paid subscribers among all users. At the same time, the companies confirm that the number of paid users has grown in recent months. The share of paying users of the Megogo service almost doubled in September compared to February. Approximately the same level of growth in paid subscriptions was noted in Premier. The number of paid subscribers of the Wink service owned by Rostelecom has increased several times over the past six months. The specialists believe that the increase in the base of paid subscribers may contribute to the growth in revenue for the year.
