Digitimes Research analysts believe that the global tablet market will show a fairly significant decline in sales at the end of the current quarter.
It is estimated that in the first quarter of 2019, 37,15 million tablet computers were sold worldwide. This is 12,9% less than the last quarter of 2018, but 13,8% more than the first quarter of last year.
Experts attribute the year-on-year increase to the release of Apple's new iPad tablets, which debuted in March. In addition, gadgets from the Huawei MediaPad family showed good results.
It is noted that in the first quarter of this year, tablets with a 10.x-inch screen were in greatest demand - they accounted for approximately two-thirds of the total supply.
Apple became the market leader. The Chinese company Huawei took second place, displacing the South Korean giant Samsung from this position.
In the current quarter, Digitimes Research analysts believe, tablet shipments will decrease by 8,9% quarterly and by 8,7% year-on-year. Thus, sales will be at the level of 33,84 million units.
