The collected data suggests that the industry is close to saturation. According to the results of the first quarter of 2019, the number of pay TV subscribers in our country amounted to 44,3 million. This is only 0,2% more than in the previous quarter, when the figure was 44,2 million. ,2,4 %.

Operators' revenue decreased quarterly by 2,4% to RUB 25,0 billion. At the same time, a 12,5% ​​growth was noted on an annualized basis: in the first quarter of 2018, the market volume was estimated at 22,2 billion rubles.

IPTV became the only pay TV segment that showed growth in the subscriber base. At the same time, 97% of new subscribers were connected by two companies - Rostelecom and MGTS.

The largest pay TV operator in terms of the number of subscribers is Tricolor with a share of about 28%. In second place is Rostelecom with a score of 23%. Another 8% each falls on ER-Telecom and MTS. The share of "Orion" is about 7%.

β€œAccording to the results of the quarter, MTS became the leader both in terms of relative and absolute growth of the subscriber base. Rostelecom, Russia's largest pay-TV operator in terms of revenue, also showed growth rates above the market average. The remaining operators from the TOP-5 either grew very slightly or showed a negative trend,” notes TMT Consulting.
