Almost 56% of the market is occupied by Apple brand products.

Specialists Strategy Analytics explained that in the first quarter of last year, 11,4 million smart watches were sold, in the last quarter this number increased to 13,7 million products. Online sales channels are functioning properly even during a pandemic, and the ability to use watches to monitor certain physiological indicators during self-isolation is in demand among buyers.

Apple does not officially disclose statistics on the number of Watches sold, but data from Strategy Analytics indicates an increase in shipments from 6,2 to 7,6 million devices per year. The company managed to strengthen its market position from 54,4 to 55,5%. Samsung products hold second place with 1,9 million watches sold, but over the year the increase was only 11,8%, and the market share completely decreased from 14,9 to 13,9%. Hot on the heels of Samsung is Garmin, which was able to increase the number of watches shipped by 37,5% to 1,1 million. The market share of this manufacturer increased from 7 to 8%. All other brands share the remaining 22,6% of the market, giving way to the pressure of the three leaders.

At its quarterly earnings conference, Apple representatives said they expect demand for wearable devices to decline in the second quarter. Representatives of Strategy Analytics share similar concerns. Economic uncertainty and disruption to traditional sales channels in the US and Europe will cause a sharp decline in smartwatch sales in the second quarter. Already in the second half of the year, according to the authors of the forecast, consumers will regain confidence, they will begin to actively buy watches to monitor important health indicators in the post-pandemic world.
