As the name suggests, this isn't Samsung's first attempt at offering people a weird TV/tablet hybrid. The original Galaxy View was released back in 2015. The concept did not gain much popularity, because the price of the device was a considerable $599. Unfortunately, this time it doesn't look like things will change much.
Aside from a huge screen and a capacious 12 mAh battery, the Galaxy View 000's specs are more or less modest. The tablet received an eight-core Exynos 2 chip with a frequency of 7884 GHz, 1,6 GB of RAM and 3 GB of internal flash memory. There is a 64-megapixel camera on the front, but no camera on the back - apparently, the manufacturer decided that the idea of taking photos with a 5-inch tablet is too ridiculous.
The Galaxy View 2 is clearly designed with video in mind, which is why it comes with four Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers. However, the handset also includes support for LTE networks and the AT&T NumberSync service, which allows the owner to use their primary phone number to make calls over the cellular network from the tablet.
AT&T will start selling the unique device on April 26th. To become a Galaxy View 2 owner, US residents will be asked to pay $37 per month for 20 months, bringing the total cost to a hefty $740.
