Samsung begins to fix the fingerprint scanner of flagship smartphones

Samsung acknowledged the problem, promising to release a fix for this error as soon as possible. Now, the South Korean company has officially announced that a package of fixes for errors in the operation of the fingerprint scanner will be delivered to end users in the near future.

The notice sent by the manufacturer states that the problem affects the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Note 10 and Note 10+ smartphones. The essence of the problem lies in the fact that on some protective films there is a texture pattern that looks like a fingerprint. When the user tries to unlock the device, the scanner does not read data from the owner's finger, but examines the pattern applied to the inner surface of the protective film.

Samsung recommends that users who encounter this issue refrain from using screen protectors that are not recommended by the manufacturer. As soon as the fix pack is applied, the user will be asked to re-enroll fingerprints, and new algorithms should solve problems in the scanner. According to available data, only owners of devices on which the fingerprint unlock function is activated will receive this update. The update is expected to be delivered to all owners of the previously mentioned smartphones in the coming days.
