The ISO 26262 standard, which sets the requirements for functional safety in the automotive industry in order to minimize risks at all stages of the vehicle life cycle (development, production, operation, maintenance and decommissioning), was adopted in 2011. After that, in 2018, it underwent a significant update. Requirements for advanced systems for autonomous driving have also been added.

ISO 26262 certification ensures that Samsung's semiconductor offerings meet automotive safety standards throughout the product development process.
