Samsung is developing "invisible" cameras for smartphones

The possibility of placing the front camera of a smartphone under the screen, just as it happens with a fingerprint scanner, has been discussed for a long time. Network sources report that Samsung intends to place sensors under the surface of the screen in the future. This approach will eliminate the need to create a niche for the camera.

Samsung is developing "invisible" cameras for smartphones

Already, the South Korean tech giant is creating Infinity-O displays for Galaxy S10 smartphones, which have a small hole for the sensor. The company notes that it was not easy to create a technology that allows you to make holes in the OLED display, but in the end it paid off.

South Korean developers do not intend to stop there. They say that the idea of placing a camera under the display is being worked out, but there are currently technical difficulties that prevent this from being implemented. It is expected that in the next two years, the development of technology will lead to the fact that the company's smartphones will receive "invisible" cameras hidden behind the surface of the screen.

It is worth noting that Samsung is developing a full-screen ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. Its integration into smartphones will allow the user to unlock the device by touching the screen anywhere with their finger. Another direction of the company's activity is connected with the creation of sound transmission technology through the smartphone screen. A similar technology has been applied in a smartphone LG G8 ThinQ.
