The Russian Space Systems Holding (RSS), part of the Roscosmos State Corporation, spoke about the latest developments in the field of thermal video telemetry, which will improve the reliability of domestic launch vehicles and spacecraft.

Video monitoring systems installed on board spacecraft make it possible to record the positions of various objects and units, as well as the spatial and temporal development of the situation during the flight. Russian researchers propose to additionally use special tools for high-precision registration of temperature changes in various areas of the spacecraft.

It is assumed that the proposed solution will allow collecting more complete information about the processes occurring on board the space technology. In particular, the thermal loading of units and assemblies can be evaluated. And this will allow predicting and preventing the development of emergency situations.

The thermo-video-telemetric system, as noted, will allow determining the state of the observed object by the brightness of the radiation or the color of the spectrum, which stand out from the image recorded by photo-recording devices. This method provides temperature control of large components and devices that heat up to high temperatures during operation.

In the future, the new system may find application in the creation of interorbital tugs, advanced launch vehicles and upper stages. In addition, the solution will be in demand on Earth - to control complex and potentially dangerous processes in industry, energy, aviation, etc.
