The material dates from 1972. It examines various aspects of the work of the Soviet automatic interplanetary station Luna-17, as well as the Lunokhod-1 apparatus, the world's first planetary rover that successfully operated on the surface of another celestial body.

The document allows you to understand how the work on the bugs was carried out, which made it possible to carry out the next lunar mission almost perfectly. The material, in particular, contains detailed information about the operation of onboard transmitters, antenna systems, telemetry systems, photographic equipment and the low-frame TV system of the Lunokhod.

The Luna-17 station made a soft landing on the surface of our planet's natural satellite on November 17, 1970. Here is what the published document says about this: β€œImmediately after landing, a radio communication session was made with the transmission of a photo-television panoramic image, which made it possible to assess the terrain in the landing area, the condition of the ladders for the descent of the Lunokhod-1 from the migratory stage and to select the direction of movement on the Moon ".

The paper describes various design flaws and issues that were identified during the mission. All detected shortcomings were taken into account in the design of subsequent devices.
