Wayland based KDE session found to be stable

Nate Graham, Lead Quality Assurance Team for the KDE project, reported on the stable development of the KDE Plasma desktop running using the Wayland protocol. It is noted that Nate has already personally switched to using the Wayland-based KDE session in his daily work and all regular KDE applications are satisfactory, but there are some problems with third-party applications.

Among the recent changes in KDE is the implementation of the ability to use the drag-and-drop interface between programs using Wayland and running using XWayland. The Wayland-based session fixes several issues with NVIDIA GPUs, adds support for changing the screen resolution at startup in virtualization systems, improves background blurring, preserves virtual desktop settings, and provides the ability to change RGB settings for the Intel video driver.

Of the changes not related to Wayland, there is a reworking of the interface for setting up sound, in which now all elements are collected on one screen without being divided into tabs.

After applying the new screen settings, a change confirmation dialog with a countdown timer is provided, which allows you to automatically return the old settings in case of a violation of normal screen output.

The logic of wrapping the text of thumbnail titles in the Folder View mode has been expanded - labels with text in the CamelCase style are now wrapped as in Dolphin along the boundaries of non-space-separated words.
