ALT p10 Starter Packs Update XNUMX

The seventh release of starter kits, small live builds with various graphical environments, has been released on the Tenth ALT platform. Builds based on the stable repository are for advanced users. Starter kits allow users to quickly and conveniently familiarize themselves with the new graphical desktop environment and window manager (DE/WM). It is also possible to deploy another system with minimal time spent on installation and customization. The proposed builds differ from the distributions in the large number of available options and smaller volume of images, as well as license terms (GPL) and a quarterly release schedule. The next scheduled update is scheduled for March 12, 2023.

Builds are available for the x86_64, i586, aarch64, and armh architectures, and are based on the Linux 5.10.156 kernel (some images use other options, as noted).

Updated versions:

  • make-initrd 2.31.0;
  • Chromium 107;
  • Firefox ESR 102.4.0;
  • KDE Plasma 5.98.0, KDE Frameworks 5.25.5, KDE Gears 22.08.1;
  • MATE 1.26;
  • LXQt 1.2.

In the classic installer for server systems, the ability to install on Btrfs has appeared. DRM kernel modules (Direct Rendering Manager) and a set of firmware have been added to the minimum builds of JeOS with systemd and sysvinit. The LiveCD includes a classic installer.
