Google Cloud Print will end next year

Google not only regularly launches new projects, but also closes old ones. This time it was decided to discontinue the Cloud Print cloud printing service. The corresponding message, which states that the service will stop working at the end of next year, was published on the Google technical support website.

Google Cloud Print will end next year

β€œCloud Print, Google's cloud document printing solution, which has been in beta since 2010, will no longer be supported as of December 31, 2020. Starting January 1, 2021, devices running any operating system will no longer be able to print documents using Google Cloud Print. We encourage users to find an alternative solution and develop a migration strategy over the next year,” Google said in a statement.

Let us remember that the Cloud Print service began operating in 2010. At launch, it was a cloud printing service and a solution for devices running Chrome OS. The main idea was to give users access to local printers from anywhere with an Internet connection.

Google said in a statement that native printing support in Chrome OS has been significantly improved since the launch of Cloud Print and will continue to receive new capabilities in the future. Service clients running on devices with other operating systems are recommended to use existing print services or turn to third-party solutions.
