Developers from Yandex.Taxi have created a special system that allows you to control the attention of drivers. In the future, the presented technology will be used to disable drivers who are tired or distracted from the road.
The mentioned system was presented by the COO of Yandex.Taxi Daniil Shuleiko at the conference in Skolkovo, which took place on April 24. The use of new technology implies the need to install a special device in the car that can assess the attention of the driver, using computer vision and analysis algorithms for this. The system is able to monitor 68 points on the driver's face, as well as fix the direction of his gaze. When the algorithm notices signs of fatigue or drowsiness, an audible signal sounds in the cabin.
It is also known that the Yandex.Taxi service will use the presented system in their own cars in Russia. The introduction of new items will be carried out this year, but the exact dates for the start of operation of the system were not named. Currently, a working prototype is being tested in several cars cruising the streets of Moscow. In the future, the system will be integrated with the Taximeter application. This will limit access to orders to drivers who are inattentive while driving or are tired.
The cost of developing the presented system was not announced. It should be noted that this year the service intends to invest about 2 billion rubles in the development of technologies to make taxi rides safer. Over the past two years, Yandex.Taxi has already invested about 1,2 billion rubles in this area.
