Sharp has demonstrated a flexible 12,3-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 Γ 720 pixels, designed for use in automotive systems.
For the manufacture of the flexible display substrate, IGZO's proprietary technology using indium, gallium and zinc oxide is used. The use of IGZO technology reduces the response time and pixel size. Sharp also claims that IGZO-based panels consume much less energy than traditional technologies.
Sharp's new display was showcased at the 2019 Vehicle Displays and Interfaces Symposium, held in late September at the Burton Manor Conference Center in Livonia, Michigan.
