Shazam for Android learns to recognize music played through headphones

The Shazam service has been around for a long time and is quite useful in the situation “what is this song playing on the radio”. However, so far the program has not been able to "listen" to music played through headphones. Instead, the sound had to be fed to the speakers, which was not always convenient. Now this has changed.

The Pop-up Shazam feature in the latest version of the Android app works with audio played through headphones. The program is running in the background. When music is identified in this way, the Shazam popup appears as a floating chat icon in the smartphone user interface. It's like a Facebook Messenger chat.

When identifying a song, the system gives out its name, and can also show the lyrics if necessary. Reportedly, the novelty works with various applications, including Spotify and YouTube. The only drawback of the innovation is that there is no similar possibility on iOS. The fact is that Apple's requirements for background applications are tougher than those of Android. Sound recording programs have similar problems.

At the same time, we note that Apple bought Shazam back in 2018, but has not yet made an indulgence for its mobile OS. And it looks strange, given that the company integrated Siri into Shazam back in 2014. Thus, the chance of an updated version of the application appearing on iOS is very small. Unless in Cupertino they change their own rules.
