Sean Bean recites poetry in A Plague Tale: Innocence trailer

Adventure stealth action A Plague Tale: Innocence was released on May 14 in versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. This is the first game independently developed by the Asobo studio. To support the launch, creators and publisher Focus Home Interactive have unveiled a new trailer featuring actor Sean Bean.

The actor, who starred in adaptations of The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, demonstrates his talent in this touching and heartfelt video, reading one of William Blake's (William Blake, 1757-1827) poems - The Lost Kid (The Little Boy Lost) . This moving poem accurately describes what Amicia and Hugo will have to endure on their dark journey through medieval France torn apart by war and plague.

In the translation of the composer Dmitry Nikolaevich Smirnov-Sadovsky, the poem sounds like this:

β€œFather, father, where are you dear?
Don't leave the child!
Say, say a word to your son,
Don't let go astray!

A child wanders in the night without a father
And tears are shed bitterly
The dew is cold and rises like a wall
Sweat from swamps.

And here is the version of the translation from Samuil Yakovlevich Marshak:

"Where are you, my father? I don't see you
It's hard for me to go faster.
Yes, talk to me, talk to me
Or I'll go astray!

He called for a long time, but his father was far away.
The twilight was terrible and empty.
Feet sank in deep mud,
Steam flew out of the mouth.

The developers claim that when creating the game, they were largely inspired by the poetry of William Blake and the way he presented the theme of childish purity, innocence and the loss of these virtues in his works. A Plague Tale: Innocence is a story about the conflict between two pure and sincere children, brother and sister, and the world around them. The Middle Ages was a dangerous time in history, and in the game it is even more dangerous because of the Inquisition and the packs of bloodthirsty rats that personify the plague. When creating the graphic style of the game, the developers were inspired by the classic paintings of old masters like Claude Lorrain, who lived in the XNUMXth century.
