Serial production of the Russian device for communication "NeuroChat" has begun. About this, as reported by the network publication "RIA Novosti", said the general director and leader of the project Natalya Galkina.
NeuroChat is a special wireless headset with electrodes that allows you to communicate literally with the power of thought. The device is fixed on the head, allowing you to type text on the computer screen without using speech or movement. To do this, the user needs to focus on the desired letters and symbols on the virtual keyboard or on whole words that the system offers.
In essence, NeuroChat creates communication opportunities for people who cannot speak and move due to severe illnesses and injuries. These are, in particular, patients with stroke, cerebral palsy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, neurotrauma, etc.
The first experimental batch of headsets amounted to several hundred sets. They were sent for test approbation to several Russian rehabilitation centers. It is important to note that 85% of the device consists of domestic components.
βThe cost of the device is 120 thousand rubles, but now work is underway to ensure that patients with serious speech disorders can receive compensation from the budget for it,β the message says.
