Days Gone update coming soon to increase difficulty, variety, and add rankings

On the eve of the release of the post-apocalyptic action movie Days Gone Studio Bend talked about plans after-sales support for its PlayStation 4 exclusive. In particular, a free update scheduled for June is designed to provide players with a new level of difficulty to enhance the atmosphere of survival in an aggressive world filled with hordes of infected freaks, mutated animals and crazed people. In addition, the update will bring more variety.

Judging by the latest video, the update will be released very soon. The promised new fourth difficulty level, Survival, will bring deadlier enemies and force players to be more careful and carefully explore their surroundings. Hostile environments will become more unpredictable by disabling the mini-map, tracker's gaze, and the ability to fast travel. The location of the protagonist will also not be marked on the full-size map. Even experienced players will have to leave carelessness and worry more about their lives.

Difficulty "Survival" will require a constant connection to the Network. The new mode will bring weekly challenges "Fight", "Horde" and "Bike" with rewards in the form of useful items (patches and rings that improve the player's capabilities), new motorcycle colorings and even skins of the main character, affecting not only clothes, but also gender, age and race. The variety of freaks in the hordes will increase. And thanks to the introduction of leaderboards, users will be able to find out what level of skill they have reached - the most enthusiastic will have to complete 12 challenges over the next 3 months. Another update will add an optimized user interface.

Critics' ratings that fell into commercial shortly after the launch of the game, were high. IN our review Alexey Likhachev gave Days Gone a score of 6 out of 10, criticizing the dreary first half, mediocre mission design, lack of interesting open-world activities, and optimization problems at the start. However, he also praised the post-apocalyptic entertainment for a story with interesting and colorful characters in the second half of the game, hordes of freaks, a noticeable difference between weak and powerful weapons, and atmospheric locations. Let's hope that the Survival mode will bring more variety and make the game more fun, especially for those who are already familiar with the story campaign.
