At Taipei Game Show 2019 in January, Atlus brand owner Naoto Hiraoka spoke about the current state of the company and future games. Only now the Taiwanese portal GNN Gamer has published an interview.
Naoto Hiraoka revealed that Atlus currently has no plans to work with Sega franchises, but the groups are in close contact with each other, which, for example, allows costumes from Yakuza and Sonic to be used in Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight.
Hiraoka also commented on the Joker's participation in Super Smash Bros. ultimate. As it turned out, the idea came from the creator of the fighting game Masahiro Sakurai (Masahiro Sakurai). “Because Mr. Sakurai loves Persona 5 so much, and I personally love Super Smash Bros. so much, my first thought when I received the invitation was: ″Great!″. I was very happy to collaborate for this,” said the owner of the Atlus brand.
Persona 5 sold 2,4 million copies as of January. Perhaps Catherine will also become a series: "We need to observe the reaction of the players before thinking about the next step." Meanwhile, Shin Megami Tensei V is still in development. Atlus has yet to show gameplay. “Because it's the first time Atlus is developing a game for the Nintendo Switch, there's a lot to consider. How to present the game is our future challenge, so please be patient until further news,” commented Naoto Hiraoka. And the development of Project Re Fantasy is progressing smoothly.
Atlus' next game should definitely be better than Persona 5 as well, which is the studio's biggest challenge. "Due to the fact that Persona 5 is a game that has achieved great success, our biggest goal right now is to release a game that surpasses Persona 5," said Naoto Hiraoka. This includes the aforementioned Project Re Fantasy and other projects as yet unannounced.
