Rumors: the announcement of a remake of Resident Evil 3 is already close, and Resident Evil 8 will be released on next-generation consoles

The Resident Evil 2 remake is one of the highest-rated games released this year, with a Metacritic score of 93 out of 100 for the Xbox One version. Shipments have already exceeded 4 million copies, and on Steam it is bought more willingly than the previous part. In light of this success, there is a high chance of a modernized Resident Evil 3, which producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi hinted at in January. According to the user who correctly described the seventh part before its announcement in the past, it is already in development. He also claims that the next numbered game will be released on the ninth generation of consoles.

AestheticGamer published the information on his Twitter a week ago, but the media paid attention to it only now. He did not tell about the sources of its receipt, but, given his reputation, he can be trusted - not forgetting that this is one way or another rumors.

The user claims that the Resident Evil 3 remake will be released before the eighth part, and will not be quite what most gamers expect to see. It is allegedly not being worked on by Capcom R&D Division 1, which is responsible for the remake of Resident Evil 2, but by some other company. News about the project, says the informant, will appear "sooner than players think." It doesn't sound so surprising: the technology base is already ready, and it should take less time to develop the next remake.

According to AestheticGamer, Resident Evil 8 is already in development, but the premiere has been "slightly pushed back." Now it is being created for next-generation systems - that is, if the rumors about these consoles are true, it will not appear until 2020. The seventh game spent about three and a half years in development - it is possible that the creation of the next game will take even more, since we are talking about platforms that have not yet been mastered by developers.

Resident Evil 3 was not as commercially successful as the second part, although it was very warmly received by critics. By May 2008, the 1999 PlayStation horror game had sold 3,5 million copies, while Resident Evil 2 was one of the best-selling games in Capcom's history (4,96 million units). It was later released on PC (Windows), Dreamcast and GameCube. However, many fans are waiting for its re-release, and Capcom will certainly fulfill their request, given the high sales of the new remake. The modern version of the second part was presented in August 2015 - is it worth hoping for an announcement at the upcoming Gamescom?

AestheticGamer stated that he would not release any information about the series for "a very long time" and asked him not to ask questions.

Even if the announcement does not take place soon, it is possible that an unofficial set of textures improved with the help of ESRGAN neural network technology will become available for download (so far there are only screenshots). Similar ones have already been released for Resident Evil Code Veronica X and Resident Evil HD Remaster.

In recent years, rumors about the revival of Dino Crisis have also been circulating on the Web, but so far they have not received confirmation. However, Capcom is listening to the fans: not so long ago, it released a remaster of Onimusha: Warlords, the first part of another of its classic series.
