Rumors: Destiny 3 is designed for a hardcore audience and will be released in 2020 on the new Xbox and PlayStation

Numerous rumors suggest that the ninth generation consoles will be on sale in 2020, and, apparently, a considerable number of projects for them are already in development. Recently, information appeared on the web about Destiny 3 for new systems. The user AnonTheNine, who distributed it, is credible: he repeatedly published information about the games in the series, which were subsequently confirmed.

Rumors: Destiny 3 is designed for a hardcore audience and will be released in 2020 on the new Xbox and PlayStation

The information was posted on Reddit by a user named ShadowOfAnonTheNine, who compiled details from various AnonTheNine posts. He emphasized that it could become outdated as it was about decisions made at an early stage of development. One way or another, it is worth taking it with a grain of salt.

The source claims that the third part will be released at the end of 2020 for "PlayStation 5 and Project Scarlett" (the second is the code name for the next Xbox). There is no word on the PC version. According to him, Destiny 3 is aimed at a hardcore audience and will be "much" more difficult than the previous parts. In addition, it will offer more role-playing elements.

It is expected that in the third part there will be a new race called Veil. These "astrodemons with dark green skin and sharp claws" are described in the Black Armory add-on for Destiny 2. According to the plot, these creatures "are waiting for the new awakening of the Traveler in order to draw strength from him and resurrect their god, killed in conflict with the Light." It is noted that the Guardians are planning to give the abilities of Darkness. Among the locations, the insider named Old Chicago, Europe and Venus.

In addition, AnonTheNine revealed that Bungie is gearing up to announce the third Annual Pass for Destiny 2. But don't expect game-changing expansions like Taken King, Rise of Iron, and Forsaken.

The developers have already made it clear that they are making plans for the third part, although they avoid talking about it directly. For example, this week Bungie's public relations manager, using the pseudonym Deej, denied rumors that the studio is going to abandon the Crucible PvP mode in favor of large open areas combining PvP and PvE elements. The speculation came after news of the departure of senior gameplay designers Jon Weisnewski and Josh Hamrick, who worked on Crucible. He confirmed that the developers continue to work on this component and plan to develop it in the future. However, AnonTheNine says that the mentioned areas in the third part are still planned, but they will resemble PlanetSide rather than the "Dark Zones" from Tom Clancy's The Division.

Rumors: Destiny 3 is designed for a hardcore audience and will be released in 2020 on the new Xbox and PlayStation

It is possible that Destiny 3 will be released on the systems of both the eighth and ninth cycles. This is what happened with Grand Theft Auto V, which appeared at the turn of the generations: Rockstar first released it on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and fourteen months later transferred it to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (and even later on the PC). A Gamerant employee notes that such an option would be optimal for Bungie, which is no longer owned by Activision and will probably publish the game itself: this would expand the potential audience of buyers.

Destiny 2 was released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2017, and on October 24 of the same year, the shooter appeared on PC. The third (and last) major expansion, Forsaken, was released on September 4, 2018.
