Rumors: Microsoft is discussing the purchase of a Polish game studio

Poland is home to many famous game studios such as CD Projekt RED, Techland, CI Games, Bloober Team and People Can Fly. And it looks like Microsoft wants to acquire one of them.

Rumors: Microsoft is discussing the purchase of a Polish game studio

This information was voiced by director Borys Nieśpielak in his podcast. He previously released a documentary about the Polish gaming industry called "We're Okay."

“This is confirmed data, but [the details] are unknown. Microsoft made purchases in Poland. It is not known whether she bought anyone, he said. — […] It is known for sure that she was in Poland. I know for sure that she talked to one studio. It is unknown who else [she spoke to]. It is unknown whether she reached an agreement with anyone. I can't say much about who she was talking to. But we know that it happened.”

So who could Microsoft have its eye on? This is unlikely to be CD Projekt RED, since the company's market capitalization is 25,96 billion zlotys ($6,755 billion at current exchange rates). Judging by the fact that Microsoft is mainly acquiring small private studios, it can be assumed that it is interested in People Can Fly (Gears of War: Judgment, Bulletstorm), The Astronauts (The Vanishing of Ethan Carter), Techland (Dying Light) and The Farm 51 (Get Even, World War 3, Chernobylite).

Rumors: Microsoft is discussing the purchase of a Polish game studio

It's unlikely that Bloober Team (Layers of Fear, Observer, Blair Witch), CI Games (Sniper: Ghost Warrior) or 11 bit studios (Frost Punk), because they are public companies that Microsoft has never acquired. Although this cannot be ruled out.

The news, of course, should be taken only as rumors, because no one confirmed the words of Boris Nespilak.
