Rumors: A sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence is in development

Citing a “trusted source,” the site claims that publisher Focus Home Interactive has ordered a sequel, which will be released in 2022, with an official announcement planned for 2020.

XboxSquad added that it contacted Focus Home Interactive and the company's chief operating officer confirmed the information. When Eurogamer talked with a Focus Home representative, he did not deny the leak, but said that the publisher would talk about Asobo Studio's next game "when the time is right."

“Focus Home Interactive and Asobo are very proud of the critical and public reception of A Plague Tale: Innocence and its sales,” Focus Home Interactive said in a statement. “We're pleased to have received a solid number of awards and nominations, including 'Best Narrative' at The Game Awards next week. We want to continue our efforts to make sure that the game receives even more attention from players, and thus we will continue to promote this franchise the way it deserves. Of course, we announced last year [actually earlier this year, - note] that we are collaborating with Asobo for [development of] a future project, but have never confirmed whether this is a sequel to A Plague Tale or not - and will give more detailed information about this game when the right time comes.”

A Plague Tale: Innocence was released on May 14, 2019 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
