According to established insider TheGamingRevolution, the remaster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will include only the campaign and is based on the engine Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. Both updated versions of the game were supposed to be released back in 2018, but were delayed due to the shooting incident in Dallas.

The multiplayer mode was previously included in the updated versions, but ultimately Activision Blizzard did not want to split the player base and decided to release only the remastered campaign.

As with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, Part 4 will be a PlayStation 2016 exclusive for a month. This agreement was signed between Activision Blizzard and Sony Interactive Entertainment in 3.
