Rumors: in the III quarter, Apple will release a compact iPhone XE to replace the iPhone SE

It's been a long time since Apple officially introduced the iPhone SE in 2016, and this base model hasn't been updated since. Before the launch of the iPhone 2018 series, there were rumors that the company would introduce something similar, but in the end, the market received only the iPhone XR, which is neither particularly compact nor affordable. The source of the PC-Tablet resource, closely associated with the production of Foxconn in India, confirmed that the iPhone SE 2 will still be released, but already under the name iPhone XE.

The iPhone XE is said to feature a 4,8-inch AMOLED display in the style of the iPhone X or XS, but sadly retains the already dated notch. The iPhone XE will support Face ID but will not have a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Interestingly, the device will be packed in a classic case with an aluminum back panel, so you should not count on wireless charging. The camera will receive only one 12 megapixel lens with f / 1,8 aperture (similar to the iPhone XR).

The technical characteristics of the iPhone XE are not reported, but if the device acquires Face ID, then at least the A11 Bionic chip will be automatically installed in it (or rather, the A12, as in the XR model). Presumably, the cost of a smartphone can range from $600 to $800, depending on the amount of built-in storage.

The iPhone XE is expected to be manufactured in India at Apple's manufacturing partner Wistron as part of the government's "Make in India" initiative. Foxconn will release the rest of the 2019 iPhones. A few days ago, renowned KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo announced that three iPhones will be released this year. Apple is expected to discontinue the iPhone XR due to low market performance, so the new family could include the iPhone XE, iPhone XI, and iPhone XI Plus.
