Disney+ announces discounts for new customers ahead of European launch

Disney is offering discounts on its streaming service to European users ahead of its EU market launch. Customers who subscribe to Disney+ by March 23 will receive a Β£10 or €10 discount off their annual subscription, bringing the annual price down to Β£49,99 or €59,99, respectively.

In Europe, the streaming service will initially be available in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland. The promotion does not apply to the Netherlands, where the service is already running. Priced at Β£49,99 or €59,99 per year, monthly payments are around Β£4 or €5 per month versus Β£5,99 and €6,99 per month in the normal case (the monthly subscription doesn't get a pre-order discount).

While the European launch of Disney+ is close, there is still some confusion about the content available on the service at launch. Disney has yet to confirm if The Simpsons will be available on the service in the UK, and it's also unclear if The Mandalorian will be available in its entirety or if the series will be released on a weekly basis, as was the case in the US.

The launch of the service in the United States proved to be very successful: it attracted 10 million subscribers on the first day. At the start of February, Disney+ already had over 28 million users, far exceeding analysts' forecasts of 10 million to 18 million in the first year.
