The craftsmen of iFixit continue to explore the anatomy of the latest mobile gadgets: this time they dissect the Apple Watch Series 6 smart watch, the official presentation of which just a week ago.
The device, recall, is equipped with an always-on Retina display and a 64-bit Apple S6 processor with two cores. Available in 40mm and 44mm sizes. The watch is equipped with new sensors for features such as blood oxygen measurement and improved sleep monitoring.
As the autopsy showed, the Watch Series 6 boasts an improved battery compared to the previous generation. So, the battery capacity of the 44 mm version is 1,17 Wh, the 40 mm version is 1,024 Wh. That's 3,5% and 8,5% more than Watch Series 5 in the same size options.
It is noted that the replacement of the display is possible, but involves a number of difficulties. Moreover, it is important to note that a ZIF connector is used to connect the screen. In addition, the battery can be replaced if necessary.
Difficulties may arise with the removal of tiny fasteners. Plus, some cables are connected directly to the S6 chip body, which requires some microsoldering skills.
