openSUSE distribution name change: voting results

Today, the results of the vote were published on the mailing list (one of the officially announced channels), which started October 10 and ended November 7, 2019.

In response to the question “Are we changing the name of the project?” The votes were distributed as follows:

  • For - 42
  • Against - 225

The total number of voters was 491 people. At the same time, it should be noted that there was no “Abstained” option among those available, so those who wanted to vote in this way fell into the category of “did not vote”.

The voting results open up new questions for discussion and decision, namely: how and in what form an agreement will be reached with SUSE LLC., what guarantees will this agreement give and what restrictions will this agreement impose on the project.
