How often do you go for interviews? If you are an adult and a person who has taken place in the profession, you clearly do not have to idly wander around other people's offices in search of a better share of your time. The situation becomes more complicated if you are an introvert and you can’t stand meeting strangers a priori. What to do?
According to a study by the think tank
What was your personal experience like? For example, there is often an opinion in social networks that posting resumes in open access on hh.ru, superjob, avito and other popular Internet resources is the last century. Allegedly, this is a sign of one's own lack of demand and hopelessness. I cannot agree with this. According to my observations, any company or agency starts the search with hh.ru, and then, as it falls into the depths of despair, it connects all other channels.
From personal experience, I can say that when looking for employees at Parallels, I work with all the possibilities. These include hh.ru, LinkedIn, Amazing hiring, github, indeed, Facebook, My Circle, telegram chats, meetups, targeting, and so on.
And of course the corporate referral program. Today, any Parallels employee can recommend their acquaintances for an open vacancy, receiving a pleasant material reward upon hiring and successfully passing the probationary period.
By the way, another debatable question, how often should you change jobs? Somebody
Let's return to the topic of the publication, what to do if the plan to change the workspace has matured, and there is no desire to wander aimlessly through strange interviews? In fact, oddly enough, everything is very simple here - ask yourself the question where I want to work.
For example, you are eager to join the team of Parallels, Acronis, Vitruozzo or any other company. Each of the mentioned companies has a website with a list of current vacancies. And not only in Russia. By the way, a list of our vacancies can be found
For example,
An equally exciting way is to search for open vacancies on LinkedIn. Unfortunately, this resource is blocked in Russia, but if you have access to Google, it will not be difficult for you to find out what a VPN is.
Also, you can quite easily analyze publications by the hashtags you are interested in in social networks. By typing in the Facebook search line, for example, #work_python, you can find not only publications on similar topics, but also a lot of specialized groups with open vacancies or direct requests from recruiters.
By the way, DevOps, UX and BI prefixes work wonders. The queues for specialists in these areas will be equal to the length of the Great Wall of China. The same admin resume without the DevOps prefix can hang unnoticed for a month, and with the prefix in the title, get three offers per day. Magic, not otherwise (actually not).
introvert looking for a job
If you are a seasoned introvert and there is no particular desire to “shine” your resume, there are some fairly simple tips. Hide your phone when posting your resume, you can even hide your last job. But be sure to leave at least an email so that you can be contacted.
If you are afraid, then your current employer will figure you out - you can close your resume only from him, plus use an e-mail specially created for finding a job. I just ask you, no need for excessive paranoia - it happens that you see a cool resume, but the full name, mail, phone number and last place of work are hidden. It remains only to turn to a psychic to identify the candidate.
The examples mentioned above cannot be considered an absolute panacea for a real introvert, since sooner or later you will be called into the office for a conditionally substantive conversation. And here the most interesting begins - the first step, an interview with an HR specialist. A lot of developers tell horror stories about crazy female recruiters asking completely insane questions. However, this is mutual, recruiters share even more tricky cases from practice.
True, it is not entirely clear where all these mythical characters live? From my experience - if you define tasks in advance, read everything carefully, do not deceive yourself and do not embellish reality - the first meeting is quick and efficient, the main goal is to clarify critical issues and get to know the company - with the candidate, and the candidate - with the company. What should you tune in to? The recruiter is the best friend and assistant of the developer, his goal is to help the candidate come to the company for a suitable vacancy and thereby close it as soon as possible. If you do not want to communicate at all, write short messages in advance. After all, they can simply be copied from the template.
If you want to be less bothered with offers, write to LinkedIn that you are not interested in a new job right now. And if you are still interested, but do not want to advertise it, the phrases from the series “I am developing in Python and machine learning” will help you. Sane recruiters will read this and send what they need.
Tell us about your experience, how do interviews usually go? And what camp are you in - few interesting offers or recruiters fill up with offers?
