Sony unveils huge 16K Micro LED display

One of the most impressive new products presented at the annual CES 2019 was the 219-inch Samsung The Wall display. Sony developers decided not to be left behind and created their own giant Micro LED display 17 feet (5,18 m) high and 63 feet (19,20 m) wide. The fantastic display was unveiled at the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas. The huge display supports 16K resolution (15360 Γ— 8640 pixels).

It was previously announced that Samsung plans to start shipping 8K TVs, but the capabilities of modern television are far from even that. The main reason is that content produced by companies is not up to 4K quality, let alone higher resolution.

Experts believe that in this decade, humanity is only beginning to approach 8K TVs and it will be a long time before technology allows the consumer market to step over this milestone. This means that for a long time displays with support for 16K resolution will be used exclusively by the corporate segment.

The huge 16K resolution display delivers truly impressive and immersive images. Of course, a lot will depend on the content creators. To demonstrate the capabilities of the presented panel, Sony had to create its own 16K content. In addition to the lack of content, do not forget about the modular design of such displays. On closer inspection, you can see the seams at the junction of several panels.
