Sony Interactive Entertainment will shut down SingStar servers 15 years after the launch of the first game in the series.

SingStar users will be able to play offline and use their downloaded content after January 31, 2020, but all online features will stop working on that day. Songs will no longer be sold on the PlayStation Store, and all shared content on will be deleted.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has reminded users to download digital purchases by January 31 next year. "We enjoyed watching the community grow and have many fond memories of working on SingStar," the publisher said. “Your support over the years has meant a lot.”

Singstar debuted on the PlayStation 2 in 2004 and was a pivotal product in expanding the console's appeal beyond the typical young male gaming audience. The series sold 20 million copies in six years. In total, over 20 SingStar titles have been released on PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3. On PlayStation 4, the game appeared as a free application.
