Since Tesla electric vehicles do not emit harmful emissions at all, pooling with Tesla will allow Fiat Chrysler to significantly reduce the emissions figure, since it will be calculated on average for all cars in the pool.
The deal with Tesla will cost Fiat Chrysler a hefty sum, in the hundreds of millions of dollars, but in any case it will be less than the several billion dollars in fines that the EU could issue to the company next year.
