Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov, according to TASS, spoke about the construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome, which is located in the Far East in the Amur Region, near the city of Tsiolkovsky.
Vostochny is the first Russian civilian spaceport. The actual creation of the first launch complex on Vostochny began in 2012 and was completed in April 2016.
However, the creation of the first stage of the cosmodrome has not yet been completed. βThe first stage of construction: out of 19 objects, only six have been commissioned. About 20 billion rubles have not been disbursed. They are moving on to the second stage and to the completion of the first stage facilities, βTASS quotes Mr. Borisov as saying.
In other words, the creation of the first stage of the Vostochny cosmodrome has been completed by about a third.
Meanwhile, the construction of the second stage of the Vostochny cosmodrome is underway. The new launch pad will allow launching heavy-class missiles of the Angara family.
It should be noted that the new Russian civil cosmodrome Vostochny provides independent access to space from the territory of Russia: these are launches of spacecraft into any orbits, manned programs and deep space exploration.
