Audacity fork creator left the project after a conflict over choosing a new name

The founder of the "temporary-audacity" (now tenacity) fork has announced that he is stepping down as a maintainer due to bullying during the project's naming vote. Members of the /g/ section of the 4chan forum forced the choice of the name Sneedacity, where "sneed" is a reference to the "Sneed's Feed & Seed" meme. The author of the fork did not accept this name, arranged a new vote and approved the name "tenacity".

Supporters of the Sneedacity name were outraged by this decision, founded a new fork and tried to place the package in the Arch Linux AUR repository, but the AUR repository was removed due to a complaint that the name Sneedacity encodes the medical term "Special needs" and offends the mentally handicapped. A call was also posted to file a complaint against the Sneedacity GitHub repository for inciting hatred, violence and bullying (supporters of the Sneedacity name believe that an attempt was made to combat a competing project in this way).

After that, on the 4chan forum, discussions began on the identity of the author of the β€œtemporary-audacity” fork and how in response to get his GitHub account deleted or discredited (for example, they found out that he does not program in C, but develops in JavaScript , but created a fork of the project in C). A wave of trolling, slander and insults fell upon the author of β€œtemporary-audacity”, which ended with the fact that he was forced to call the police, as unknown ill-wishers figured out his home address and threatened physical violence (according to the author of the fork, he was stabbed in the arm while three witnesses, but in a discussion on the 4chan forum they consider this a fabrication).
