The creators of Bayonetta and NieR: Automata hinted at the release of The Wonderful 101 for Nintendo Switch

Japanese studio Platinum Games released The Wonderful 101 action-adventure game in 2013, and it has remained a Wii U exclusive ever since. However, today the official Twitter Studios has a photo of the director of development of the game Hideki Kamiya (Hideki Kamiya), hinting at the release of its version for the Nintendo Switch.

On one of the monitors behind Kamiya, you can see the Platinum Games logo, and below, the date "10.1" and the time "1:01". To the left of the developer lies the Nintendo Switch, which can be regarded as a hint that a version of the game is being prepared for this console.

About wanting to port The Wonderful 101 to a hybrid console developers they said back in 2018. Then at the Reboot Develop 2018 event, Kamiya asked the audience to clap for their interest in this version - and the applause was loud. At that time, Platinum Games was trying to negotiate with Nintendo on this issue, but the process was probably delayed.

In The Wonderful 101, players control a large group of superheroes called the Wonderful Ones on a mission to save humanity from an alien invasion. Characters can be turned into various objects that are used in battles, solving puzzles and moving through levels. The army is constantly expanding at the expense of the townspeople, whom the players rescue on the streets.

Journalists received The Wonderful 101 quite warmly (rating on Metacritic - 78 out of 100 points). Many of them praised the developers for the quirky story, characters, style, humor and high complexity. Some found the battles to be monotonous and the difficulty curve to be too steep, while others, on the contrary, did not see such shortcomings.

The studio's latest game, an action role-playing game Astral Chain, was released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch and is successfully sold (its circulation has exceeded one million copies). Platinum Games is currently working on Bayonetta 3 for Nintendo Switch and Action RPG Babylon's Fall. Numerous rumors indicate to prepare a new NieR. Newly studio received investment from the Chinese Tencent, which will help it move to self-publishing games.

The Nintendo Switch game library is expanding rapidly. Not only Japanese, but also Western games, including big-budget ones, are being actively released for the console. March 6, like was announced this week, there will be a role-playing game on it The Outer Worlds from Obsidian Entertainment.

The top 8 best-selling games for the Nintendo Switch are entirely from Japanese studios, with Mario Kart 310 Deluxe topping the list. In total, over XNUMX million copies of games have already been sold for it. Sales of the device itself exceeded 52 million units, making it the third most successful home gaming system in the company's history. A more powerful version of the console was expected to be released this year, but Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa refuted these rumors.
