Kaspersky Lab reports that the majority of Russian smartphone owners receive spammy calls with unnecessary promotional offers.
It is said that "garbage" calls come to the numbers of 72% of Russian subscribers. In other words, three out of four Russian owners of "smart" cellular devices receive unnecessary voice calls.
The most common spam calls are those with offers of loans and credits. Collectors often call Russian subscribers. In addition, calls are often received with offers of risky financial transactions and dubious investments.
βThe most common spam calls are with offers of loans and credits. In some regions (Chelyabinsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Saratov and Sverdlovsk regions), the share of such calls reaches more than half of all telephone spam, but in the rest it does not fall below one third, βKaspersky Lab notes.
The study also shows that most spammers call Russian smartphone owners on Thursday and Friday, between 16 and 18 pm.
