Square Enix and Toylogic Studios have announced NieR RepliCant ver.1.22474487139…, an updated version of the Japanese action role-playing game released on the PlayStation 3 in 2010. This is the background and the continuation of the fifth ending of Drakengard. And it will go on sale on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
The story of the game begins in 2053. Due to a long cold snap, a few survivors took refuge in a small shelter, but there is almost no food. Nir's little sister, Yona, suffers from an uncontrollable cough. Lying on the floor of a ruined grocery store, her weary brother contemplates whether to accept the mysterious book's offer of help in exchange for his soul. The monsters known as Shadows have appeared, leaving him no choice. To protect his sister, he takes the power of the book and defeats the monsters.
The main action of NieR RepliCant takes place 1412 years later. In 3465, a boy named Nir tries to cure his sister Yona from a terrible disease. The world in development rolled back for centuries. People live in villages in modest houses and work together to keep the community alive. In an attempt to help the children, the villagers hire Nir to do odd jobs and give him numerous errands. The brother does his best to provide for his sister while the wisest members of the village, Popola and her twin sister Devola, seek treatment. During one of his missions, Nier discovers a magical book that offers him its power.
It is noteworthy that in 2010, NieR Gestalt, a modified version of NieR RepliCant, was released in the West for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game takes place in a different time, but the characters and plot remain the same, except that Nier and Yona become father and daughter.
The updated version of NieR RepliCant will offer re-recorded music and new songs by composer Keiichi Okabe (Keiichi Okabe), full dubbing of the characters and re-recording of the voices of a new character. Voice actors 2B and 9S are known to have a small role. Drakengard and NieR creator Yoko Taro and Dragon Quest X and NieR: Automata producer Yosuke Saito are working on the game.
The release date for NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… has not been revealed.
