Square Enix has delayed the end of timed exclusivity for the Final Fantasy VII remake following the game's delay

The period of temporary exclusivity for the Final Fantasy VII remake was supposed to end in March 2021 years, however, due to recent transfer the game itself has β€œmoved” and the date of its appearance on other platforms.

This became known thanks to the updated cover of the Final Fantasy VII remake on Square Enix official website. The corrected caption states that the project will remain a temporary PS4 exclusive until April 10, 2021.

Thus, the postponement of the release date of the Final Fantasy VII remake did not affect the period of its exclusive stay on the PlayStation 4 - 12 months from the date of the original premiere.

However, no one guarantees that versions of the Final Fantasy VII remake for other platforms will be released on April 10, 2021. Eg, Final Fantasy XV appeared on PC 15 months after its premiere on consoles.

It is also unknown where, besides PS4, the remake will appear. Until recently Square Enix vehemently denied the existence of versions of the project for other systems, but most actively the updated Final Fantasy VII was wooed on Xbox One.

Regarding the delay of Final Fantasy VII Remake to April 10, producer Yoshinori Kitase explained the delay as the team's desire to "release a game that lives up to our vision and the level of quality that fans deserve."

The Final Fantasy VII remake will be distributed using a serial model. Unlike Telltale games or Life is Strange, you won’t be able to buy the entire β€œseason” - you’ll have to pay full price for each episode.
