Holmgang: Memories of the Forgotten is an action-adventure game with "fast-paced RPG" elements, as the developer describes it. This is explained as follows: βfast RPGβ is like a regular RPG, but it takes eight to ten hours to complete. However, Holmgang: Memories of the Forgotten will be based on repeated playthroughs, and each time the game will offer different routes, additional missions and endings.
You have to travel the world of Drakorum, look for friends and enemies. Some of them will give you quests or sell you a unique item, others will try to trick you. As you progress, you will come across various routes that can lead to challenging and dangerous environment-based puzzles. In addition, gradually you will be able to access secret areas with rare loot, like in metroidvanias.
The combat system of Holmgang: Memories of the Forgotten includes combos and finishing moves. You will also be able to create your own combinations in the corresponding editor and upgrade the skills of the characters. During the passage, you will be attacked by enemies with a variety of behavior, weapons and weaknesses, under which you will need to adapt.
Holmgang: Memories of the Forgotten is being developed for PC, current and next generation consoles. Zerouno Games plans to release the game in October 2021.
