The cost of mobile Internet traffic in Russia decreased by a third in a year

Internet access services via mobile networks in Russia are becoming more and more accessible. This, according to RBC, is stated in the report of VimpelCom (Beeline brand).

The cost of mobile Internet traffic in Russia decreased by a third in a year

It is noted that last year the average cost of 1 MB of mobile traffic in our country was only 3-4 kopecks. This is a third less than in 2017.

Moreover, in some Russian regions, the price of one megabyte of data transmitted via cellular networks has completely fallen to one penny.

The observed picture is partly due to the fact that Russian mobile operators have begun to return tariffs with unlimited traffic.

The decrease in prices in the mobile Internet access market compared to 2017 occurred in 40 regions. The authors of the report note that telecom operators were unlikely to make money on new customers who chose tariffs with unlimited Internet.

β€œEven if someone managed to increase the subscriber base against this background, the operators could not make money on such clients,” RBC notes.

Market participants say that in Russia mobile Internet access is currently one of the cheapest in the world. Moreover, this year the cost of relevant services may decrease even more.
