Lead Acid Batteries vs Lithium Ion Batteries

The capacity of batteries in uninterruptible power supplies should be sufficient to ensure the operation of the data center for 10 minutes in the event of power outages. This time will be enough to start the diesel generators, which will then be responsible for supplying the facility with energy.

Today, data centers typically use uninterruptible power supplies with lead-acid batteries. For one reason, they are cheaper. More modern lithium-ion batteries are used in data center UPSs much less often - they are better in quality, but much more expensive. Not every company can afford the increase in equipment costs.

And yet, lithium-ion batteries have good prospects, and they are associated with a reduction in the cost of these batteries by 60 percent by 2025. This factor is expected to increase their popularity in the market - American, European and Russian.

But let's digress from the price and see which batteries will be better in terms of significant technical parameters - lead-acid or lithium-ion? Fight!
