New version of i3 compatible frame window manager released Sway 1.5 (for Wayland and XWayland). Composer library updated wlroots 0.11.0 (allowing development of other WMs for Wayland). 78 developers made 284 changes providing many new features and bug fixes. Main changes:
- Headless mode to start the environment without displaying an image, can be used in conjunction with WayVNC;
- Support for new protocols for text input (Input method editors - IME);
- Support for variable refresh rates (Variable Refresh Rate - VRR), incl. to improve the display of games;
- support for viewporter protocol, allowing run old X11 games and improve their speed;
- Support for the wlr-foreign-toplevel-management protocol to expand the possibilities of tiling windows;
- Lots of updates to the wlroots library - List of changes.
