Needless to introduce the system manager for GNU/Linux has prepared another release number 246.
In this issue:
- automatic loading of AppArmor security rules
- support for checking disk encryption in units using ConditionPathIsEncrypted=/AssertPathIsEncrypted=
- support for checking environment variables ConditionEnvironment=/AssertEnvironment=
- support for section digital signature verification (dm-verity) in .service units
- the ability to transfer keys and certificates via AF_UNIX sockets without the need to save to a file
- additional specifiers in unit templates for various options from /etc/os-release
- removed .include support from unit files (deprecated 6 years ago)
- removed support for undocumented syslog and syslog-console options for StandardError=/StandardOutput= in units - modern journal and journal+console options are used instead
- automatic limits on the size of all tmpfs mounted by systemd itself (/tmp, /run…)
- additional options for systemd from kernel boot command
And much more - see https://github.com/systemd/systemd/blob/master/NEWS
From myself I will add that the release does not look as innovative as the last one, which added systemd-repart, systemd-homed and userdb. Just a lot of different improvements, conveniences and fixes. Which, however, is unlikely to prevent pique vests from organizing a symposium in the comments about the coming end of Linux, the earth and the observable universe.
