Gradually, developers introduced more and more Fluent Design elements into the top ten, added them to universal applications, and so on. But File Explorer has remained classic so far, even with the introduction of the ribbon interface. But now that has changed.
As expected, 2019 could be the year when Microsoft finally updates File Explorer and brings it to a modern look. Rumors may finally become reality. The fact is that in the fresh insider assembly 20H1, which will get to the release only next year, an updated version of Explorer has appeared, already with Fluent Design. The update will apparently also improve integration with various Microsoft services.
It is important to note that this is not the final version yet. It is possible that the developer company is simply testing the features and looking at the ratings of the participants in the early access program. After all, Microsoft has repeatedly had new features, which then disappeared before the release. However, this time, perhaps the company will update the same Explorer.
At the same time, the long-awaited feature of tabs in the file manager, as well as the two-pane mode, remains the dream of many users so far. Seriously, Microsoft, this has long been in Total Commander and other managers!
