Tactical Viking strategy game Bad North gets a 'giant' free update

At the end of last year, Bad North was released - a game that combines tactical strategy and roguelike. In it, you need to defend a peaceful kingdom from the attacking hordes of Vikings, giving orders to your soldiers and using tactical advantages depending on the map. This week, the developers released a "giant" free update, with which the project was subtitled Jotunn Edition.

With it, the game now has the ability to select the necessary commanders before starting the defense and customize their character traits that provide unique parameters. On the battlefield, you will meet with a completely new type of opponents, and four special items, including mines and the philosopher's stone, will help in the fight against them and the rest of the invaders.

The progression system has also changed - from now on, items, traits and other trophies unlocked during previous playthroughs will be available at the start of a new campaign. In the storyline itself, gold is now distributed among all units, there are save points on some islands, and when viewing the map, you can see what types of enemies you should be wary of in the next location.

Some innovations have made the game easier, but at the same time, a new "very high" difficulty level has been added, which is recommended only for those who are already familiar with the mechanics of Bad North. The update is available on PC and will make its way to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch at a later date.
