Gary Patton joined GlobalFoundries along with the IBM factories, which were transferred to a new owner in the summer of 2015. At IBM, Dr. Patton led the microelectronics development department and was responsible, among other things, for new technical processes. At Intel, he will serve as Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Solutions Development under the direct supervision of Intel CTO Mike Mayberry. At Intel
Patton will be responsible for development support, linking process technology, profitability, productivity and time-to-market for real products. He will also lead the development of process design kits (PDKs), IPs and tools. Patton may not be the icing on the cake, but he's a man of the caliber of all of Intel's recent high-profile acquisitions, such as Murthy Renduchintala, Jim Keller, and Raja Koduri.
