Telegram will not control the TON blockchain platform

The Telegram company published a message on its website in which it clarified some points regarding the principles of operation of the Telegram Open Network (TON) blockchain platform and the Gram cryptocurrency. The statement notes that the company will not be able to control the platform after launch, and will not have any other rights to manage it.

It has become known that the TON Wallet cryptocurrency wallet will be a separate application at launch. The developers do not guarantee that in the future the wallet will be integrated with the company’s messenger. This means that the company, at least initially, will launch an independent cryptocurrency wallet that can compete with other similar solutions.

Telegram will not control the TON blockchain platform

Another important point is that Telegram does not plan to develop the TON platform, assuming that the community of third-party developers will do this. Telegram does not undertake to develop applications for the TON platform, nor to create the TON Foundation or any other similar organization in the future.

The Telegram development team will not be able to control the cryptocurrency platform in any way after launch, and also does not guarantee that holders of Gram tokens will be able to enrich themselves at their expense. It is noted that buying cryptocurrency is a risky business, since its value can change significantly due to volatility and regulatory actions in relation to cryptocurrency exchanges. The company believes that Gram is not an investment product, but positions the cryptocurrency as a means of exchange between users who will use the TON platform in the future.

The report said that Telegram still intends to launch a blockchain platform and cryptocurrency. This was supposed to happen in the fall of 2019, but due to a lawsuit by the US Securities and Markets Commission (SEC), the launch was postponed. It is worth noting that the Gram cryptocurrency is currently not for sale, and sites that allegedly distribute tokens are fraudulent.

Recall recently стало извСстно that the SEC filed a lawsuit in the US District Court, demanding that Telegram be forced to disclose information about how investments in the amount of $1,7 billion collected through the ICO and intended for the development of TON and Gram are spent.
